Cambridge ESOL Results Verification Service
University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations has launched a Results Verification Service to help organisations, individuals and agencies to validate candidates' Cambridge ESOL examination results quickly and securely.
Cambridge ESOL examinations are taken for a variety of reasons. Generally there is a minimum requirement in these situations to present the exam certificate (or a copy) as proof of achievement. |
| Cambridge ESOL's user-friendly Results Verification Service gives free access to this information online. Anyone can use this free service once they have been given permission to verify a result by the certificate holder. Access to the site is granted on successful completion of a simple online registration process.
Results for the following exams can be verified using this service: Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE),
Certificate in Advanced English (CAE),
First Certificate in English (FCE),
Preliminary English Test (PET),
Preliminary English Test for Schools,
Key English Test (KET),
Key English Test for Schools,
International Legal English Certificate (ILEC),
International Certificate in Financial English (ICFE),
Business English Certificates (BEC). |

New Computer Based Tests from April 2010
KET for Schools and PET for Schools are now available as computer-based tests. CB PET will have a slightly different onscreen look for exams from April 2010. CB PET was originally launched in November 2005, but has just been updated to bring the screen designs in line with the other delivered CB tests e.g. CB KET, CB BEC, CB FCE and CB CAE. Please note that the actual test format has not changed, so it will not matter if candidates have prepared for the exam by taking a test with the original screen designs. |

Cambridge Advanced accredited at levels C1 and C2
High–performing candidates for one of the world's most widely recognised English language qualifications will now receive additional recognition for their achievement.
For the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English , certificates for candidates who achieve a grade A will show that their result is at level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This will take effect from the March 2010 exams onwards. Certificates for candidates with grades B and C will continue to show level C1. |
This is an important development and reflects the reality of Cambridge Advanced – a high level exam first introduced in 1991 which proves that candidates have the language skills they need to succeed in higher education in an English–speaking environment. Cambridge Advanced is already widely recognised by universities and employers around the world, and this will make the exam more appealing to candidates who want to demonstrate a very high level of ability in English. Material in the exam continues to be set at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), but candidates who achieve grade A have shown evidence of proficiency at the C2 level in some or all of the areas assessed.
UK exam regulator Ofqual has formally accredited Cambridge Advanced grade A at level 3 in the UK's National Qualifications Framework (which is equivalent CEFR level C2) while grades B and C continue to be accredited at level 2. |

FCE for Schools in 2011!!
Now that KET for Schools and PET for Schools have been launched, a new version of the First Certificate in English will be available in 2011, designed for those who are learning English as part of their primary or secondary education. The format for the new exam is the same as the existing First Certificate and covers the same range and level of English language skills. The content of the exams will be designed specifically for this age group, covering topics and situations that they are likely to be familiar with. By including language typically used in the classroom, the new exam is ideal for use in schools where language learning is integrated with other elements of the curriculum. |

10,000 organisations accept Cambridge ESOL certificates
Around 10,000 organisations now accept Cambridge ESOL language qualifications as proof of English for entrance to higher education, enhanced career prospects and immigration. Such organisations include the UK Border Agency, the Greek Civil Service and leading Higher Education establishments around the world - including the top Ivy League institutions and the Russell Group. |
Head of Sales, Sean Hayde said one of the reasons behind the recent growth in recognition was that Cambridge ESOL had developed a flexible range of valid English language tests. "Whether you're a lawyer wanting to enhance your legal English, a parent keen to check your child's progress or applying for a higher education course in an English speaking environment, there is an accurate and reliable qualification available from Cambridge ESOL," he said.
If you would like to know which organisations recognise Cambridge ESOL certificates in Spain please click here http://www.cambridgeesol.org/recognition/index.html and follow the links. |

New website outlines first European survey of language learning
A project which will conduct the first ever survey of language learning across the European Community is explained in a newly released website: www.surveylang.org The European Survey on Language Competences will provide countries participating in the survey with comparable data on foreign language proficiency (from English, French, German, Italian and Spanish) and knowledge about good practice in language learning. |
It will also provide data about how demographic, social, economic and educational factors relate to language proficiency. The data collected will be used to explore factors which impact on language learning and which can shape language policy. A field trial with 40 schools from participating countries will take place in early 2010; the main study will follow on in early 2011 with 71 schools. For more details on the project, developed by SurveyLang, visit www.surveylang.org |
