
Seminar aims:
The aim of this seminar is to help teachers to provide their students with strategies for producing peak performance on the day of the CAE exam:
The workshop will cover the following:
- Course planning and incorporating exam practice into a course
- The importance and timing of mock exams
- Teaching ideas for cross-paper activities and for individual papers
- Developing exam strategies
- What to do on the day of the exam
The seminar will not look in detail at individual papers but rather will focus on advice and exam tips on approaches to the task types and skills of the CAE exam, and relate these tips to parts of individual papers.
After the break the workshop will focus on the Speaking Test and will examine the format, tasks and test focuses of the CAE Speaking paper. We will look at classroom activities based on the Speaking test in general and each part of the Speaking test and include tips to help students with various aspects of the test. We will also discuss how teachers can make use of sample papers and past papers in the classroom.
